December, 2011
When people made funny resolutions, I made the most realistic one - one which was a matter of life and death to me!
Amongst all the people who found their way into my hit list this year, the last target escaped death. He was now resurgent, and was on the hunt, me being his prey.
The best of hit men turned down the contract to kill him, scared of him, scared of the power he possessed. I took it up, fantasizing of making a fortune. The amount that was offered for the kill eclipsed every other thought in me.
It was the note I received yesterday that made me take this resolution. The four-word note read "Apocalypse, your doom".
December 21st, 2012
I was deprived of sleep, brooding about what the day has in store for me. Today was the day of apocalypse, the day that was meant to be my last, if not for the worlds. I sat at my study, and remembered the day I attempted to take him out. It was at the shop that specialized in Yak Cheese; I was in my blue raincoat with my gun hidden inside it. I took it out, aimed and pulled the trigger; the bullet missed its mark, and thrust into his hand. I ran - the best thing I could do then.
A knock on the door brought me back to my senses. A chill ran down my spine.
The knock continued to get louder.
I walked towards the door, held the handle and reluctantly turned it. The door swung opened. A gun was aimed between my eyes and a sound of a single bullet shot was heard.
I knew then, that I had failed my resolution - to stay alive.
- THE END -
